How to use prompt cards in a creative workshop
Prompt cards work best as interventions, not entertainment. Pick one card that matches the team’s exact stuck point and give everyone quiet thinking time before discussion.
Diagnose the friction
Decide whether the group needs to reframe, constrain, test or decide. Do not draw a random card merely to create activity.
Work alone for three minutes
Let every participant respond silently. This produces more range and reduces the influence of status and volume.
End with a visible action
Capture one next step, one owner and one signal. A prompt is only useful when it changes what happens next.
One precise intervention beats ten generic brainstorm exercises.
